FAQ for Portrait & Boudoir Shoots

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I get professional makeup and hair done for my shoot?

Absolutely. I insist that you do. I will connect you with the right people so that you look your absolute best, yet still you. Professional makeup is a must for boudoir, beauty, and really for any professional portraiture!

I’d love to do this, but I’m feeling nervous!

Rest assured, I will do everything in my power to make you feel more comfortable during your session. We will listen to music, talk, and laugh. You will have a blast during your shoot! The more relaxed you are, the more you will love your photos. If at anytime during the session we need to take a break or change something up, we will.

Can I drink during the session?

I have no problem if you bring a a bottle of wine or champagne or providing one for you.

How bare do I have to become during the session?

Only as bare as you feel comfortable. Sometimes the sexiest images aren’t about what you show. This session is all about you. Wear what makes you feel most confident and sexy, even if that means bare skin. If you’re still not sure what to wear, I can guide you in your wardrobe choices before we even shoot. You may also choose to do a complete beauty session.

Do you pose me? What can I expect?

There is some posing involved in these kinds of sessions. However, I try to make it as easy on you as possible. Most of the time I will show you what I have in mind or guide you if you aren’t sure how to pose, and we will go from there. During the session I may ask if I can adjust your hair or clothing. I respect your personal space; so if you’d rather adjust things on your own, please let me know. I would love for the inner you to come out. I often find that candid photos showing your confidence turn out the best.

Where do the sessions take place?

A studio, boutique hotel room, or any place that goes with the theme and wardrobe of your shoot. Additional fees may apply depending on where we shoot and what all is involved in your session.

For my on location, natural light clients:

There are a few extra things you need to be aware of when shooting outdoor portraits with me such as couples, engagement, family, maternity, beauty, senior portraits, etc.. Below are some basic guidelines to help ensure you have the best shoot possible. I will also email you a link as far as styling help, what photographs well, and available locations.

How many outfits should I bring?

Try to bring at least two or three, but it’s always good to be prepared. We generally start with the least revealing to help you ease into the session.

Will you make me look thinner?

You are who you are, and that is beautiful. Do not worry about such things. That being said, it is my job to find the most flattering angles of my subjects. I want every woman I photograph to walk away looking and feeling their best.

I don’t like this about my body…Can you fix it?

Again, don’t concern yourself about any imperfections. I appreciate you telling me about these things up front so that I can keep an eye on them, but some of our imperfections are what make us the most beautiful. I will shoot and edit your photos in a flattering way with you looking like the best version of yourself, yet still “you”.

Will anyone be able to see my session?

Your final images are posted in a password protected private gallery unless requested otherwise. You may order professional grade prints straight from the gallery of any images from your session, as well as opt to download your high resolution photos with permission to print.

Will any of my pictures be posted on your website?

Only if you give me consent. You have the final say in whether or not you want to publicize any images.

How long will it take to receive my images?
You can expect to receive your final digital images about two weeks from your session date, unless notified otherwise. Turn around time may vary if ordering products, but you will be made aware of processing/shipping times.

What happens after I book my portrait session?

After booking the session, I’ll contact you via email in order to learn more about you. I will also provide you with some basic information and suggestions about wardrobe, styling, etc at this time. You will be sent a list of locations that I prefer to shoot at, and we will then finalize the location, day, and time.

How soon after my portrait session will my images be available?

An online gallery of your finalized images will be available no later than 2 to 3 weeks after your session. You and your family may easily purchase high grade professional prints directly from the gallery. The difference in quality between non professional and consumer quality prints is astounding. I highly recommend ordering from the online gallery that I send to you. You may also share your gallery via social media after receiving your gallery link. I love adding my clients on Facebook and Instagram, feel free to follow me and I will do so back!

What happens if it rains on the day of my outdoor photo shoot?

In the event of rain during a scheduled outdoor session, a rain date will be provided. Alternate days will be arranged at the time the session is booked.

What is natural light photography, and how does it affect what time we schedule our shoot?

I use the sun’s light to flatter you and shoot outdoors typically in the late afternoon. I will tell you what time to meet.

Where do portrait sessions take place?

I work primarily as a location-based photographer for outdoor, natural light portraits. I meet you with my camera, and your portrait sessions take place at a location that I have already scouted out unless you request otherwise. I will give you several options to choose from when we schedule. If you insist on a certain location, and it is out of my 30 mile radius, a small travel fee will be included.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, or Paypal. Payment is due either before or on the day we meet to shoot. If you are paying by bank account or credit card via PayPal, please have payment sent before we meet. All pricing is subject to Texas State Sales Tax.
